Lorenzo Colombo and Emmanuel Gyasi clinched it for Empoli against Roma

Empoli emerged victorious in a thrilling clash on Sunday at Stadio Olimpico, edging out Roma with a 2-1 win in Serie A.

Empoli seized the lead in added-time of the first half when Emmanuel Gyasi found the net, assisted by Lorenzo Colombo. Then, in the 61st minute, Lorenzo Colombo doubled Empoli's advantage, sending fans into a frenzy.

Roma's Eldor Shomurodov managed to pull one back in the 80th minute, thanks to an assist from Tommaso Baldanzi. However, it was not enough to alter the outcome.

With this win, Empoli celebrated their first victory of the season, now sitting on four points. Roma, meanwhile, remain on one point after two games.

Looking ahead, Roma will face Juventus away on 1 September, followed by Genoa away on 15 September and Udinese at home on 22 September. Empoli's upcoming fixtures include Bologna away on 31 August, Juventus at home on 15 September, and Cagliari away on 22 September.
