Kovačić's Brace Inspires Manchester City's Triumph Over Fulham
Manchester City clinched a resounding 3-2 victory over Fulham at Etihad Stadium in Saturday's Premier League showdown.
Fulham started the match with great energy. Andreas Pereira seized the moment, netting the opener in the 26th minute with an assist from Raúl Jiménez, making it 1-0.
Manchester City quickly responded, leveling the score at 1-1 when Mateo Kovačić found the back of the net in the 32nd minute.
Right after the break, Kovačić struck again, propelling City into the lead. With only eight minutes left, Jérémy Doku extended their advantage with assistance from Rico Lewis.
In the dying moments, Rodrigo Muniz scored for Fulham with an assist by Reiss Nelson to cut Manchester City's lead to 3-2.
This result keeps Manchester City undefeated this season, having taken points in seven consecutive games. They now sit in second place, just one point behind Liverpool, while Fulham holds seventh place.
Fulham's manager, Marco Silva, reflected on the match, saying, "City finished with five at the back. So it gives us courage to stick with our philosophy as a team." He added, "We can be unhappy with the result. We deserve more from the game. But that's football, it's a process. Next time we have these types of chances, we have to be able to score more."
Looking ahead, Manchester City will face Wolverhampton Wanderers on 20 October, Southampton on 26 October, and play away at AFC Bournemouth on 2 November. Fulham will next tackle Aston Villa on 19 October, Everton on 26 October, and host Brentford on 4 November.
