Frankfurt take on Borussia Mönchengladbach in Bundesliga clash.
As Eintracht Frankfurt seek their third consecutive Bundesliga victory for the first time under Dino Toppmöller, Borussia Mönchengladbach aim to defy their recent struggles and secure back-to-back away wins when they clash at Deutsche Bank Park this Saturday.
Eintracht Frankfurt
After losing in the league opener, Frankfurt bounced back with consecutive wins. They secured a 3-1 victory over Hoffenheim on matchday two and followed it up with a 2-1 win against Wolfsburg. Dino Toppmöller's side took the lead at the half-hour mark, thanks to former Wolfsburg midfielder Omar Marmoush.
Although they were pegged back in the second half, Marmoush rose to the occasion, completing his brace with a penalty, eight minutes from time, securing all three points against his former team. "Even though a penalty decided it in the end, the victory is the reward for the team’s mentality," Toppmöller remarked after the game. The win placed the Eagles sixth in the league, sharing points with fifth-placed Bayer Leverkusen.
Frankfurt aims for a third consecutive top-flight victory for the first time under Toppmöller as they host Mönchengladbach this weekend. Recent success against the Foals bolsters their confidence, with Frankfurt remaining unbeaten in their last six league encounters, boasting three wins and three draws. Notably, this is the longest unbeaten streak Frankfurt has had against Mönchengladbach.
Additionally, Frankfurt has been formidable at home, losing just two of their last 28 Bundesliga games on their turf. This weekend, a 3—4—2—1 formation might be on display, featuring Hugo Ekitike in attack.
Borussia Mönchengladbach
After a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Stuttgart, Mönchengladbach slipped to 13th place in the league table. They are tied on points with 12th-placed Wolfsburg, who boast a superior goal difference.
The Foals fell behind early against Stuttgart, but Alassane Pléa equalized with an impressive effort, only to leave the field due to injury shortly after his goal. Unfortunately, his contribution wasn't enough as Mönchengladbach conceded two quick goals in the second half, marking consecutive home league losses.
Gerardo Seoane commented on Pléa’s condition, hoping the injury is just a knock and nothing more serious. The team travels to Frankfurt this weekend, aiming to achieve back-to-back away league wins for only the second time in the 21st century, the previous being in the 2019/20 season.
However, recent form shows they have won just one of their last nine Bundesliga matches, recording one win, three draws, and five losses. In their encounter with Frankfurt, Tomáš Čvančara could be set to start in attack, with the team possibly setting up in a 4—2—3—1 formation.
