Edin Džeko scored three goals as Fenerbahçe secured a thrilling 4-3 away victory over Lugano in the Champions League.

Ferdi Kadıoğlu also found the net for the winners, while Lugano's goals came courtesy of Bislimi, Valenzuela, and Wafi.

Lugano silenced Fenerbahçe early on when Ayman El Wafi netted in the fourth minute, thanks to an assist from Anto Grgic.

Fenerbahçe equalised just before the half-time whistle as Edin Džeko coolly converted a penalty.

Right after the break, Džeko struck again, giving Fenerbahçe the lead.

With 64 minutes on the clock, Lugano's Uran Bislimi scored following a Mattia Bottani assist, leveling the score.

Just three minutes later, Edin Džeko completed his hat-trick, with an assist from Sebastian Szymański, to put Fenerbahçe ahead once more.

Ferdi Kadıoğlu increased Fenerbahçe's lead to 4-2, with an assist by Fred, just seven minutes later.

In extra time, Milton Valenzuela scored for Lugano, reducing the deficit to 4-3.

The two teams will clash again on Tuesday at Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium.
