Fellow top-six hopefuls Frankfurt and Augsburg go head-to-head.
Having been picked apart in an embarrassing weekend defeat to Stuttgart, Frankfurt are back in the race for a top-six finish in this weekend’s encounter with fellow top-six hopefuls Augsburg. Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Augsburg kicks off at 19:30 [GMT+1] on Friday, April 19, at Deutsche Bank Park.
Eintracht Frankfurt
FC Augsburg
Augsburg are just one spot below in 7th place on the Bundesliga table with 39 points (10W, 9D, 10L) following the weekend’s 2-0 win over Union Berlin.
Goals from Phillip Tietz (47’) and Sven Michel (81’), who came off the bench in the 73rd minute, helped Augsburg put an end to a two-game winless run. It was their third win in five Bundesliga games (WWDLW), leaving Augsburg on the verge of back-to-back victories.
A victory for the Fuggerstädter will not only give the visitors a league double over Frankfurt but also their second win in eight games against the hosts (1W, 3D, 3L). However, the visitors haven't had much success on the road against Frankfurt, failing to win in any of their last three Bundesliga away games against the home side (0W, 2D, 1L).
A 4-1-2-1-2 formation with Ermedin Demirović and Phillip Tietz in attack is expected for the weekend’s game. As many as nine players, including Fredrik Jensen and Kevin Mbabu, are ruled out for the visitors.
