FC Utrecht got the better of Willem II at Stadion Galgenwaard
FC Utrecht emerged victorious in an exhilarating game on Saturday, securing a 3-2 win at home at Stadion Galgenwaard against Willem II in the Eredivisie.
The match kicked off with high energy, and in the 11th minute, FC Utrecht seized an early 1-0 lead thanks to an own-goal. Willem II, however, didn't take long to respond. Nearly half an hour in, Cisse Sandra equalised with a strike, assisted by Rúnar Þór Sigurgeirsson, bringing the score to 1-1.
FC Utrecht regained their lead in the 37th minute when Noah Ohio confidently converted a penalty. But Willem II refused to back down, with Cisse Sandra netting again just before the half-time whistle, making it 2-2. The drama continued into the second half as another own-goal in the 53rd minute put FC Utrecht ahead for the final time, sealing their 3-2 victory.
Following this match, Willem II hold the sixth place in the standings, while FC Utrecht climb to third.
