FC Bayern München claim the win away against VfL Wolfsburg

An even game saw FC Bayern München just edge out VfL Wolfsburg away in the Bundesliga on Sunday. The match finished 3-2 in favor of Bayern.

FC Bayern München started the match well and took the lead early when Jamal Musiala netted after 20 minutes, assisted by Sacha Boey, making it 1-0.

Straight after the break, Lovro Majer scored to equalise for VfL Wolfsburg. They took the lead in the 55th minute with another goal from Majer, this time assisted by Patrick Wimmer, to make it 2-1.

The match was leveled again in the 65th minute through an own-goal. However, with just eight minutes left, FC Bayern München's Serge Gnabry scored the decider, assisted by Harry Kane.

"The second half wasn't as good as it needed to be. Ultimately, there are things that we can take from the second half, the mentality that we showed as we did in the pre-season," noted Vincent Kompany after his debut Bundesliga win.

Adding to the excitement, Thomas Müller equaled a club record with his 709th competitive appearance for Bayern after coming on as a substitute in the 65th minute.

The next Bundesliga fixtures for VfL Wolfsburg are Holstein Kiel (away) on 31 August, VfL Wolfsburg (home) on 14 September, and Bayer 04 Leverkusen (away) on 22 September. Meanwhile, FC Bayern München will face SC Freiburg (home) on 1 September, Holstein Kiel (away) on 14 September, and Werder Bremen (away) on 21 September.
