England Starts Euro 2024 Journey with Win Over Serbia

In their opening game of Euro 2024, England clinched a 1-0 victory at the Veltins-Arena over Serbia. The match began with England on the front foot as Jude Bellingham found the net after just 13 minutes, thanks to an assist from Bukayo Saka, putting England ahead 1-0.

Despite managing only one shot on target for the entire game, Serbia appeared most threatening after substitutes Dusan Tadic and Milan's Luka Jovic entered the fray. Serbia will look to recuperate as they face Slovenia on 20 June and Denmark on 25 June, while England prepares to meet Denmark on 20 June and Slovenia on 25 June.

England's manager, Gareth Southgate, praised his team's defensive strength, stating, "We defended very well as a unit. Our team ran out of energy, and that didn't surprise me due to the lack of 90 minutes our players have had." He added, "The subs helped us. I think we can be more efficient with the way we played in the first half, which will help us moving forward."

Jude Bellingham was awarded the match's MVP for his decisive header that separated the sides, as England successfully secured a hard-fought victory.
