The first half finished 0-0, and it took until the 75th minute before Oliver Valaker Edvardsen finally broke the deadlock, giving Go Ahead Eagles the lead and, ultimately, the win.

FC Groningen are now in eighth place in the table, while Go Ahead Eagles are seventh, demonstrating just how tight the competition remains.

Looking ahead, FC Groningen face Ajax on 6 October, FC Utrecht on 20 October, and an away game at Fortuna Sittard on 26 October.
