On Friday, Villarreal outlasted Sevilla in a thrilling encounter, winning 2-1 away in La Liga.
Villarreal took an early lead when Arnaut Danjuma netted in the second minute, with an assist from Álex Baena.
Sevilla equalised just before the half-time whistle as Dodi Lukebakio found the net, aided by Lucas Ocampos.
The deciding goal came in stoppage time, when Ayoze Pérez scored for Villarreal.
Looking ahead, Sevilla will face Mallorca on 27 August, Girona on 1 September, and Getafe at home on 15 September.
